"We can't believe how all our original ideas & thoughts can be made into a real home. It's turned out exactly how we wanted it."

Applecross 1

A beautiful stone driveway sweeps down to the garage and across to the inviting front steps. The large window in the garage street facade diminishes any impact the side facing triple cedar clad doors may have had and provides the perfect architectural foil to the predominantly vertical piers of the main house.

This home was judged as the
2010 MBA Finalist Certificate - Contract Homes over $2million

Natural stonework and timber finishes add texture to further enhance the front elevation and set the scene for the rest of this classical, timeless creation. The overall design is so clever that the visitor has no concept that the house actually sits considerably down off the road, the immediate thought is that it sits well above, a perception created by the majestic front stairs leading up to the stunning Oak entrance doors.

A step inside these custom made front doors reveals rich, dark timber floors across the expansive entry and adjacent, wide passage ways and generous stairwell.  This middle level accommodates three substantial bedrooms, the sitting room with a private balcony, bathroom and a well-appointed powder room.

The visitor can go down half a flight of stairs to the massive garage and storage areas or up via the stairs or the subtly concealed 6 person lift to the very exclusive ‘penthouse’ master suite above. A private well appointed study, massive bedroom with stunning views, enormous dressing room and a sumptuous ensuite bathroom of Hollywood proportions combine to create a luxurious hideaway that you don’t want to leave.

Conversely and cleverly, a trip in the lift to the ground floor opens up to a travertine clad family orientated paradise with the first thing seen being a massive shallow reflection pond terminated by water cascading down a feature wall. A purpose built wine cellar, kids study area, passage, kitchen & family rooms all wrap around this pond allowing light to dapple into all spaces. A comfortable meals area sits adjacent to the very large open plan kitchen and in turn opens totally out to the alfresco & BBQ area through huge bifold doors.

And it doesn’t stop there, looking from the alfresco area down through a stone clad palisade, past the enormous pool, beyond the warm timber ceilings of the exquisite Bali Benong cabana is a half court tennis court for the kids to run amok on. A guest suite, powder room & expansive laundry complete this level.

The extensive use of stone, timber and travertine flow throughout to provide a sense of unity and peace to what is a truly magnificent family home, one Brian Burke Homes have been privileged to be involved with from start to the very successful finish.
