2008 MBA Housing Excellence Awards Winner- Contract Homes $2 - $2.5million
The extensive use of natural materials like stone cladding, timber, polished concrete, stainless steel & travertine floors softens the mood on what is the most contemporary of architecture. The mood is further calmed walking past tranquil ponds on the journey to the spectacular front entrance where water continues under glass on inside the home.
Floating Sheoak stairs & soaring 7m high columns greet the visitor stepping through a massive frameless glass pivot front door. The luxuriously appointed 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the ground floor are discreetly hidden from the main entrance and are accessed via travertine and Sheoak covered floors that also lead to the home theatre/games room. All rooms feature timber door frames with a negative edge detail negating the need for architraves.
Back at the front, the house can also be accessed by the triple car garage that features a highly polished concrete floor. Adjacent to the entrance from the garage to the house is a conveniently located lift to take the days shopping upstairs.
Climbing the floating timber staircase brings you to a breathtaking and immediate sight of manicured parklands with a glinting ocean beyond. This wonderful vista through huge commercial grade windows allows the expansive ocean views to be enjoyed from nearly every room in the entire house. Protection from the sun & glare off that same ocean is achieved by the huge timber lined cantilevered roof overhang.
The open plan top floor is canopied by curved plywood timber ceilings with negative joint details above beautiful travertine floors. A feature is the free standing fireplace above which a huge plasma TV descends from the ceiling by remote control.
As well on this level is the huge kitchen with it’s separate scullery, a nautical bar, massive family, meals, alfresco & balcony. A discreet powder room is cleverly situated up a half flight of stairs, almost in the roof space and a study sits behind the stairs at the rear of the home but still enjoys the ocean views.
A sumptuous open plan master suite finishes the top floor. The master suite having more wonderful views to the ocean and to the marbled ensuite complete with spa and huge dressing room.
